Strengthening Inga and Awá self-government: drafting the internal regulations in Villagarzón
Video on the strengthening of the self-government of the Inga and Awá Peoples and the drafting of internal regulations in the municipality of Villagarzón (Putumayo). It recounts that in June 2013 an Indigenous professional team began the process and that in January 2014 the congress of the Awá and Inga communities was held at the Albania Reservation, where the internal regulation was consolidated as a document of social control for each people for peaceful coexistence. It presents ACIMVIP's work with community meetings, workshops, poster activities, and ceremonies of the elders by night and by day, and states that the strengthening must continue through a participatory process that guarantees the recovery and conservation of traditional knowledge. Appearing, with name and position captions, are Vicente Jacanamejoy (governor of Blasyacu), Olindro Taicus (governor of Playa Larga), Doris Mutumbajoy (sociologist), Juan Muyuy (lawyer), and Juan Javier Jojoa (communicator). The credits date the work to February 2014. We invite you to watch the full video on its original channel.
