First harmonization ceremony of the project «Baitawami kincharirkani» in Alto Alguacil, Resguardo Chaluayaco
On 28 October 2022, at the Alto Alguacil settlement of the Inga Indigenous Reservation of Chaluayaco, the first harmonization ceremony of the project «Baitawami kincharirkani, waira mana iaikungapa» («I protected myself with a shawl, so that the wind would not get in») was held, carried out by ACIMVIP with the support of the Norwegian Human Rights Fund (FNDH). According to the attendance record, 55 people took part.
The project, carried out between 5 January 2022 and 30 April 2024, seeks to strengthen the protection guarantees and capacities of the Authorities, Chaskis, Wasikamas and women leaders in defending the human, collective and territorial rights of the Inga People of Villagarzón, Putumayo. This was the first of the project's harmonization ceremonies, which in April 2024 concluded with those of Blasiaku (20 April) and Albania (27 April). In its assessment, ACIMVIP concluded that Indigenous spirituality and harmonization ceremonies are a valuable tool for accompanying memory activities and managing their effects on people, and that they should continue to be strengthened.
