Prior consultation process for the Alguacil 3D seismic project
Video on the prior consultation process for the Alguacil 3D seismic exploration project of the company Gran Tierra Energy Colombia with Indigenous communities of the Inga and Awá Peoples of the municipality of Villagarzón (Putumayo). A narrator goes through the stages of the process, from the opening and agreement with the company and the Ministry of the Interior to the impact identification workshops, the thought mingas and the signing of minutes, with contributions from authorities, elders, advisors and community members. One speaker maintains that «prior consultation in itself means asking before entering a territory»; another recalls that the new generation is kept in mind because whatever is chosen remains as a document.
