Impacts on the prior consultation process for the Alguacil 3D seismic project in Villagarzón
Video on the impacts of the Alguacil 3D seismic exploration project of the company Gran Tierra Energy Colombia, identified in the prior consultation process with six communities of the Inga and Awá Peoples of the municipality of Villagarzón. The audio records meetings and assemblies in which community spokespersons, a female governor, advisors and project representatives explain what an impact is, identify the effects on the territory, water and ways of life, and discuss management measures. Among the contributions, one hears that for Indigenous Peoples the soil is not dead matter but the mother, and that «the impacts the project will cause are much greater than the benefits it may bring».
