The Inga: the Indigenous People the State made invisible before the oil company Gran Tierra Energy
🚨 #INVESTIGATION #ManchadosXelPetróleo 🚨
The plans of the oil company Gran Tierra Energy🛢️ have crossed paths with at least 7 Inga indigenous reservations in Villagarzón, Putumayo, #Colombia. 🇨🇴 In this dispute, national government agencies have denied the presence of the Inga and given the green light to hydrocarbon exploration and extraction. The Ministry of the Interior stated that there were no indigenous or Afro communities in the territories where the Gran Tierra Energy project would take place, even though we verified that three of the affected reservations have been legally registered in that area since before the license was granted to the company. The communities are about to take the case to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. Mongabay Latam and Cuestión Pública investigated the situation. ⬇️ https://es.mongabay.com/2022/04/colombia-el-pueblo-indigena-que-el-estado-invisibilizo-ante-la-petrolera-gran-tierra-energy/
