Carnival of Forgiveness of the Inga People in Wasipungo

On 20 February 2023 the Inga People celebrated the Carnival of Forgiveness at the Inga Indigenous Reservation of Wasipungo, in Villagarzón. A video published on YouTube on 27 April 2023 by the account Rosa Jojoa, under the title «carnaval del perdón inga wasipungo villagarzon putumayo 20 de febrero 2023», records the celebration.

The Carnival of Forgiveness, or Atun Puncha, is described by Noticias Putumayo as an ancestral tradition for reconciliation, healing the spirit and living in harmony with others and with nature. Wasipungo, constituted as a reservation by INCORA Resolution 015 of 1999 and expanded by INCODER Agreement 016 of 2005, is one of the founding communities of ACIMVIP, which each year invites the communities of the Inga People of Villagarzón to the carnival.
