Digital security workshop in Villagarzón with ACIMVIP

On 27 and 28 February 2023, in Villagarzón, Colnodo's Digital Security School held a digital security workshop with ACIMVIP and other social organizations that are partners of the Norwegian Human Rights Fund (FNDH) in Putumayo, as part of the School's «Capacity Building» project. Colnodo reported the activity on 28 February 2023 on its Instagram account. The training was organized in two in-person working sessions and closed with a survey to measure the impact of the workshops.

The workshop started from the concept of holistic security, understood as the coordinated use of tools and tactics for psychosocial, physical and digital well-being and security, and from the idea that digital security results from combining habits, new tools and correct configuration. It addressed the digital footprint and information overexposure on social media, with the rule of not using or uploading third-party information without their consent; password management (unique, at least 12 characters, regularly renewed and with secure recovery emails); types of malicious software; and backups.

For ACIMVIP, the workshop was part of the project «Baitawami kincharirkani, waira mana iaikungapa», with the support of the FNDH. In its assessment, the Association highlighted that it served to improve practices and protocols for handling personal and institutional information and to meet leaders and projects of other organizations in the territory, with which contacts were established for the defence and protection of rights, and recommended continuing to hold workshops on other topics in which the organizations could meet again.
