Social mapping mingas with Amazonía Mía at the Cabildo Atun Taita Ambi Upiadiru Indigenous, the Inga Indigenous Reserve of Blasiaku and the Cabildo Musu Waira Sacha Nucanchipa (November 2023)
The schedule of visits to the ACIMVIP communities continues under the project «Strengthening territorial governance and self-government of the communities of the Inga People of Villagarzón (Putumayo), through the control and protection of the territory and the implementation of the Mandate of the Elders Suma Kausangapa to conserve and safeguard biodiversity», of the Amazonía Mía programme (agreement AA-GRA-026).
The aim is to hold five thought mingas to raise awareness among the ten Inga communities of Villagarzón about the protection, conservation and repopulation of the wild species of the Ancestral Territory.
Between 21 and 23 November 2023 the team visited the Cabildo Atun Taita Ambi Upiadiru Indigenous, the Inga Indigenous Reserve of Blasiaku and the Cabildo Musu Waira Sacha Nucanchipa, each at its own headquarters. At the Atun Taita session, maps of the Inga Indigenous Reserve of Chaluayaco were also presented. Each session began with the harmonisation led by the community's knowledge keeper. Then each Cabildo (Indigenous traditional authority) and reserve carried out its social mapping: it drew its territory and identified its conservation zones, strategic sites, its plans and what it has done to mitigate climate change.
The ecological calendar was also built: the communities identified when timber, fruit, medicinal and craft trees bear fruit, in order to collect their seeds and reforest the territories most affected by deforestation.
