The CNTI, ODTPI and OPIAC meet at ACIMVIP's house of thought

On 22 July 2024, technical teams of the National Commission on Indigenous Territories (CNTI), the Observatory of Territorial Rights of Indigenous Peoples (ODTPI) and the Organization of Indigenous Peoples of the Colombian Amazon (OPIAC) met with Indigenous authorities of ACIMVIP at the organization's house of thought to review the territorial needs of the Inga People and the requests for formalization, protection and legal certainty of its communities. The CNTI closed its post with the message «Defending the territories is defending life».

The meeting was a space for building relations between ACIMVIP and the Indigenous Technical Secretariat of the CNTI, a body created by Decree 1397 of 1996 for concertation and dialogue between the Indigenous Peoples and the National Government on territorial matters. According to the agenda, the first day, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., included the presentation of the CNTI and its Observatory, of OPIAC's accompaniment as part of the backlog-reduction team and of the Observatory's information systems, and a dialogue on the territorial situation and the processes of formalization, protection and restitution of territorial rights of the communities associated with ACIMVIP.

The agenda provided for a second day, 23 July, to present the tutela ruling in favour of the Inga Calenturas Reservation, define technical and legal support for land formalization and acquisition cases, agree on the relationship between the CNTI and ACIMVIP, and deliver informational and educational materials from the Observatory.
