Authorities and community members of the Inga Reservation of Wasipungo speak about the importance of their ancestral territory

Video by authorities and community members of the Inga Reservation of Wasipungo, in the municipality of Villagarzón, on the importance of the ancestral territory. With aerial shots of the forest, streams, paths, and homes, they recount that the territory, water, and diversity are the life of the communities; that they care for and reforest the water sources, make chagras for their food, and prepare their sacred plants with water from the streams; and that water and fish have declined since the arrival of the oil company. Speaking, with captions, are the governor of the reservation, José Jansasoy; the cabildo members Otilia Buesaquillo, Ligia Jansasoy, Luz Gomajoa, and Noemí Jacanamejoy; the spiritual authority Luis Jansasoy; and the former governor Mesias Agreda. A closing text presents the material as part of the community's own diagnosis of the environmental contingency caused by the crude oil spill at the Costayaco 3 platform, on the Danta Iaku stream (Villagarzón, Putumayo, 2025), and the video closes with the phrase «Michasunchi Nukanchipa Alpamamata». We invite you to watch the full video on its original channel.
