October 12, Day of Indigenous Resistance: who we are and where we come from
Today, October 12, Day of Indigenous Resistance, we tell who we are.
We are Amazonian Indigenous people. We come from several memories and today we are the Inga People, native to this territory. In this carousel we travel, from the most ancient to the most recent, through the four origins our memories recall, the Tawantinsuyu, the Real Audiencia de Quito, Colombia in 1886, today's Putumayo with its Upper, Middle and Lower parts, and our Reservations in Villagarzón. We also talk about how long we have been here and what ILO Convention 169 says about who is an Indigenous People.
We are a millenary Inga People, protector of the ancestral territory. We are Wasikamas Alpa Mama, guardians of Mother Earth.
