Video presentation of the Inga People of Villagarzón, Putumayo: marches, territory and the demand for respect of their rights
Introductory video of the Inga People of Villagarzón (Putumayo), assembled from photographs and short sequences with traditional background music. It opens with captions on the ancestral origin of the reservations and the laws of nature and a portrait captioned «Taita Fernando Mendua», and continues with men playing traditional instruments, women preparing cassava, plantain, and peach palm over a wood fire (with the captions «Por Nuestra Autonomia» and «Por Nuestra identidad Cultural»), a march with banners of the Inga Indigenous Reservation of Albania and of ACIMVIP calling for the defense of the territory, and landscapes of rivers and waterfalls, with medicinal plants (caption «nuestra medicina»). It closes with a text demanding respect for and compliance with the rights of Indigenous Peoples established in the 1991 Political Constitution. We invite you to watch the full video on its original channel.
