The legal proceedings of the Inga People against the Ministry of the Interior over prior consultation on the San Vicente River
The Paz y Diálogo publication, dated December 13, 2021, sets out the judicial proceedings of the Inga People of Putumayo, with the support of Ambiente y Sociedad, against the Ministry of the Interior. It recalls that this entity stated that near the San Vicente River the oil company could begin exploration because no community existed there. It notes that the Inga Indigenous Reservation of Blasiaku has inhabited the area for generations and proved its presence through legal channels. It indicates that the Ministry ended up recognizing that this community must take part in the prior consultation, although concern remains because that recognition covers only part of the affected population. [ACIMVIP clarification: the Inga Indigenous Reservation of Blasiaku is the reservation that inhabits the San Vicente River area; the original publication names it «Resguardo Inga San Vicente».]
