The Norwegian Fund amplifies the voice of Ginny Medina, environmental defender of ACIMVIP
On 6 June 2022, on the occasion of World Environment Day, the Norwegian Human Rights Fund (FNDH) shared on Instagram a video featuring the voice of Ginny Medina, environmental defender of ACIMVIP.
In the video, Ginny Medina states: «Let’s continue in the fight for the defense of indigenous territories. Let us not be intimidated by the threats that are always generated in our territories» (original in Spanish: “Sigamos en la lucha por la defensa de los territorios indígenas. No nos dejemos intimidar por las amenazas que siempre se generan en nuestros territorios”).
The post, tagged with #Colombia and #WorldEnvironmentDay2022, joined the day on which the FNDH recognizes people who defend land and the environment in different countries. For ACIMVIP, the defense of Indigenous territories is an ongoing task of Indigenous Peoples, among them the Inga People of Villagarzón, sustained despite the threats that this work entails.
We thank the Norwegian Fund for bringing this voice to its channels.
