The struggle of ACIMVIP: Sacha Muiu and the protection of the territory

On July 6, 2023 El Espectador, in partnership with Dejusticia as part of the #TejidoVivo special, published the report «ACIMVIP's struggle: Sacha Muiu and the protection of the territory», republished by MiPutumayo. It presents Sacha Muiu, the plant that turns moriche into cosmetic oil, with a capacity of 500 liters a year, as well as soaps, jams and other products, with legal permits and a forest management plan. It describes ACIMVIP as an association of 11 Inga communities, 766 families and more than 2,500 people, which has protected about 32,000 hectares of ancestral territory.
