On 2 and 3 December 2023, at ACIMVIP's headquarters, Iuiai Wasi, in Villagarzón, the closing thought minga was held for the project «Strengthening the traditional structures of authority and self-government of the Inga People of Villagarzón from the worldview and Amazonian spirituality of the Indigenous communities, within the framework of the implementation of the Safeguard Plan (Auto 004 of 2009)», carried out with the Ministry of the Interior under agreement 1951 of 2023.

The delegates of the twelve Inga communities of Villagarzón that took part in the project were presented with the technical document that brings together the feelings and thinking of the grassroots, built with the support of the Human Rights Coordination and the professional team. They also validated the action plan of the Safeguard Plan of the Inga communities of Villagarzón, with its short-, medium- and long-term projection, based on the thought mingas held in each territory.

The project sought to consolidate the traditional structures of authority in the political, administrative, legal, environmental and spiritual spheres, in order to strengthen self-government and territorial autonomy, with the recognition of the authorities and the men and women leaders of the twelve Cabildos (Indigenous traditional authority) and reserves.

The minga was also a space for reflection and planning. ACIMVIP hopes that the competent institutions, led by the Ministry of the Interior, will continue the implementation of the Safeguard Plan.
