ACIMVIP: resisting stigmatisation for defending our culture
On 18 March 2025 Verdad Abierta published this five-minute video about ACIMVIP, which reports that organizing to ensure the continuity of cultural traditions has brought stigmatization upon the Indigenous organization. The President of ACIMVIP, the coordinator of the Wasikamas and other members of the Inga communities take part.
The video is part of the project «Disinformation and stigmatization: changing local narratives in Colombia», implemented by Protection International and VerdadAbierta.com with the support of the European Union. Within the framework of that project, which used European Commission funds to support the production of communication materials by human rights defence organizations, with editorial advice from Verdad Abierta and administrative support from Protection International, ACIMVIP signed a financial support agreement in August 2024, which was closed in March 2025. On the same 18 March, Verdad Abierta published a second video, «Yagé: la toma del remedio para la protección territorial».
