Dialogue space of the Inga People of Putumayo on territorial defense and mining projects

DEFENSE OF THE TERRITORY AND POSITION ON MINING PROJECTS IN PUTUMAYO.

Today we accompanied an important space for dialogue with the organizations and authorities of the Inga People of Putumayo, convened by AWAI, together with OZIP, ACIMVIP, KAUSAY, UMIYAC, ASOMI, the Technical Secretariat of the MPC Putumayo, more than 50 traditional authorities and delegates from the communities.

It was a meeting to listen, dialogue and build paths on fundamental issues for the Inga People: the defense of the territory and the position on mining projects such as Libero Cobre, representation before the Permanent Concertation Roundtable, Indigenous health and education projects, risk management and guarantees for the communities.

As a senator, I reaffirm my commitment to accompany these spaces of unity, autonomy and participation of Indigenous Peoples. From Congress and together with our work team, we will continue working so that the voices of the authorities and communities of Putumayo reach the institutions and become actors of rights, follow-up and results.

Listening to the territory, respecting its autonomy and working together with its peoples: that is the way.
